Safeguarding Policy
Interpreting and Translation Linguists Collective Agency (for internal use only)
1. Introduction
Interpreting and Translation Linguists Collective Agency (hereinafter referred to as “the LC Agency“) is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults and children in accordance with current UK legislation. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our procedures for identifying, reporting, and managing concerns related to safeguarding issues.
2. Responsibility and Reporting
The Manager is designated as the primary person responsible for safeguarding matters within the LC Agency. In the absence of the Manager, concerns should be referred to the Company Director. Any staff member or linguist who becomes aware of safeguarding concerns must report them immediately to the Manager or Company Director.
3. Referral Process
If there are concerns regarding the welfare of a vulnerable adult or child, the following steps will be taken:
The individual with concerns should report them to the Manager or Company Director.
The Manager or Company Director will assess the situation and determine if further action is required.
If necessary, the Manager or Company Director will make a referral to the appropriate authorities or agencies, such as local safeguarding teams or social services.
If this is a matter of emergency, the individual with concerns should contact the local authority or police.
4. Managing Allegations
The LC Agency has established procedures for managing allegations of abuse or harm, including:
Ensuring that all allegations are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
Cooperating fully with any external investigations conducted by relevant authorities.
Providing appropriate support to individuals involved in allegations, including staff, linguists, and service users.
5. Safeguarding Training
The LC Agency is committed to providing regular safeguarding training to all staff members and linguists to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively.
6. Background Checks
As part of our commitment to safeguarding, all employees of the LC Agency in the UK are subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Similarly, all linguists working with the LC Agency in the UK must undergo DBS clearance as a minimum standard. For linguists working outside the UK, equivalent checks such as police verification or criminal record checks will be conducted.
7. Review and Revision
This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains up-to-date with current legislation and best practices. Any revisions will be communicated to staff and linguists accordingly.
